During childhood, focusing on still darkness isn’t required for fear to find us. Now I turn the corner, leave the door open, and wait with eager hope for uniquely chilling silence to reveal a glimpse of truth. Sometimes I turn my back on velvet shadows, for a more direct approach. Settling into hollow darkness provides a lasting taste of beauty in exchange for the eternity only knowable through the flashing glimpse of childhood.
